Dr. David Gorman is Northern NY 's Leader in minimally invasive surgery including almost painless, out-patient advanced laparoscopic hysterectomies, incontinence surgery, and stereotactic breast biopsies.

Abdominal Hysterectomy - the uterus, cervix and tubes and ovaries are removed through an incision in the lower abdomen. Most patients can go home within 24-48 hours after surgery. And they can return to work or normal activity within 4-6 weeks after surgery. after surgery.

Vaginal Hysterectomy - the uterus, cervix and tubes and in selected cases tubes and ovaries are removed through incisions through the vagina. All the blood vessels are sutured vaginally. Most patients can go home from the hospital in 24 to 48 hours and they can return to work or normal activity within 2-4 weeks usually used for prolapsed of the uterus..

Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy - combination of a vaginal hysterectomy and laporoscopy will allow the doctors to release adhesions and assist in removal of the uterus without an abdominal incision most patients go home in 24 to 48 hours after surgery and returning to work in 3 weeks.

Laparoscopic total hysterectomy (TLH)- the uterus and cervix, and in selected cases the tubes and ovaries, are removed by laparoscopic surgery only. Most patients can go home the day of surgery and return to work in 1-2 weeks.

Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy - the uterus and tubes and ovaries are removed through very small abdominal incisions. Through these incisions small operative instruments are introduced, and the procedure is performed. Most patients can go home the day of surgery, and can return to normal activity within 1-2 weeks.

TLH and LSH are the two latest most minimally invasive hysterectomies that have been developed. Both are same-day discharge surgeries with minimal pain. Both require advanced skill sets well beyond the abilities of the average laparoscopic surgeon.
